"Did Mum tell you the bad news?"
"No," I swallowed nervously.
"Well, I was going to take you on the ultimate Daddy Date, but...we'll be in Nelson." Dad, Mum, Sawyer and Willa were flying to Nelson soon for a friends wedding, the rest of us would be staying at our grandparents place. Dad glanced at Mum.
"Should I tell her?" he asked. Mum nodded and then he turned to me. "Do you want to know what it was, or will you be too disappointed?"
I wasn't sure, but I said yes. Mum clicked at something on her phone and passed it to me. My eyes ran over it and my heart sank. It was tickets to the world premier of Mustang Ride, the Wilson sisters latest documentary about them training wild mustangs. Then, as I read the words at the bottom of the page, I had an even bigger disappointment: the Wilson sisters were actually going to be there for a meet and greet! I wished I could go.
"Couldn't, well, maybe if someone else..." I mumbled.
"Are you disappointed?" I nodded at Dad's words, "Because... you're going to have the ultimate Poppa Date!"
I could hardly believe what I had heard. I was going - with Poppa!
"Yes!" I cried, excitement building. I was going!

Several days later, Poppa and I arrived at the cinema. I was holding their second book and (yay!) Poppa bought me their third - the book about their mustangs.
"There they are!" I suddenly said. They sat down and almost everyone lined up for signatures. When Kelly signed my books she asked:
"Do you have For the Love of Horses?"
"Yes," I replied, "You all signed it at the last Equidays."
"Oh," she smiled, "Will you be at Equidays this week?"
"Yes."
"I might see you there."
Then she turned to the next person. The movie was great, and very funny. There was bucking broncoes, icy snowstorms, unbearable heat, sadness, happiness, sucess...My favourite part was when they went to the ranches, and explored the trails in the canyons. I really enjoyed it and, even though Dad couldn't take me, it was a good night.
