Bulls in the Orchard!

Mum was just putting Sawyer to bed with me when suddenly she cried “ Bulls in the orchard!” She hurriedly tucked Sawyer in while I raced down stairs. I looked out Sawyer's window and thought, ‘Yipee! I always wanted to be a farmer.’
Me and Mum pulled on our gumboots. The young bulls that lived behind our back yard had burst open their gate (the farmer had the gate tied on with baling twine ) and were munching happily in our orchard.
I picked up a stick and started yelling.
“Jada, you go round there!” mum shouted “Would you sit down, Huckle !”
“Huckle, sit!”
“No, puppy, sit!!”
But Huckle kept on barking and chasing the bulls. So mum tied him up.
After a while mum said, “Go see if the neighbor is home. He’ll help us.” I nodded and ran to the fence. I squeezed through the bushes and climbed over the fence. ‘Oh, please be home.’ I hoped. Then I realized that it wasn’t just fun anymore. The bulls would trample dad’s trees. I took a deep breath and knocked. No answer. I ran around to the backdoor and knocked loudly. Still no answer. I sighed and started back towards the orchard.
“No one –“ I began but mum stopped me “Get back, get back!” she cried. I screamed in a whisper and leapt backward. The two biggest bulls were crashing their strong heads together. Hot breath blew out their nostrils ( really, their breath was blowing out). The fighting continued for a long time.
Then five bulls escaped onto our lawn and were headed down the driveway toward the open road. I jumped up and carefully guided them back into the paddock. By then mum had finally been able to text dad (the boys, except Sawyer and Danny, were possum trapping). Dad came and with his help we herded them back into their own paddock.
Believe it or not, that was a long morning!!
